A Rushing Trip

As the picture described, I went to Universal Studios Singapore on 1st September. It was my worst experience of Singapore trip. Together with 3 colleagues, we were ordered to make a day trip to visit Universal Studios for our research as my company planned to make Pulau Melaka to a similar theme park with the new Ferris wheel.

The sad thing about this trip is everything is too rushed. We spoke to the management asking to change a date but failed. As I enquired about traveling allowance especially on meal allowance, the HR manager told me that the company’s traveling policy to overseas have not been approved by the management. To me, it’s like a joke. It should have it on the day the company was setup. As for transportation, my colleagues were suggesting to use personal car in which I disagreed due to the mileage claim is at a very pathetic rate. I came to find out we have 2 company cars available in which we can use but again, we failed. Not just the management is a mess but even the staffs itself are very selfish. They were reluctant to surrender as the CEO has allowed them to use the company car during raya. So other than the entrance ticket, everything was on our own.

I do not understand why the other staffs do not voice out for their right. Instead, they asked me to calm down and not to be so sensitive about it since it’s just a day trip. I wonder why.. Is this a practice that they are used to it?

The settings of the Universal Studios were superb. All in all, I like the way how the operation teams work, the planning, eateries, souvenirs and activities. Sure enough that they have a huge budget to play with and I’m very doubtful about my current company’s plan on the Pulau Melaka project. Firstly, the management is bad and even the restaurant’s operation team is giving way now. I wonder how we can have such big dreams to build a theme park. I guess everyone is free to have dreams and plans but whether to realizing it and making it a success depends on each capability.

It will be great if the Singapore trip would not be so rush. The weather was burning hot and everywhere is crowded. Most of the games I didn’t manage to try and added on to my headache. We started our journey at 6am and left Singapore at 9pm+. Overall, this trip is another experience that I’ve encountered. I see more how the company and its staffs work and expect more to come.
