Days Working in Malacca

1st day of work mostly about waiting. Waiting for the HR introduction, waiting to be given a computer and waiting to be sited at my own work desk. I waited patiently until end of day then only I was given a laptop. But my work station is not ready yet till today.

On day-3, I noticed that this company has very good business opportunity as new projects kept coming in. The main core of business is taking all government jobs in bridge making and developing new developments in Malacca. They are also into hospitality business such as hotel lines, theme park and restaurants.

I've been complaining from Day-2. This doesn't sounds good but I'm trying to see if there's any areas that I can help. The down side is that their internal management is really bad and very inconvenience. It seems that there is no internal communication at all. It all started from the basic. I can't seems to get online for the first few days, my work station is not ready, no stationary, no server connection to printer and etc..

The next thing is that the marketing department itself is a real mess. There is no proper briefing on who to give instruction on marketing tool, events and promotional items. Sales personals do not have a fix office and they are all over. All past events, projects and promotional items are all gone, no one save it, no archive and no server. I was in shock to see how this company survive because everything is all over. The new ID girl and myself are hand in hand now trying to make things better but we do not really know how to move from here.

Based on my understanding, I believe this company can be groomed to grow as it has many good opportunities. We just have to improve internally especially on the management side.
Still trying my best to get a grip of everything and hope to get the big picture soon.

Looks like they need someone to manage it. Often we hear of managers but the reality of it all is that managers must be organisers and coordinators as well. But it survives because it's Melaka. It's much easier to handle in small town no matter how disorganise one can be. Often in small towns, boss won't look so far ahead and is rather contented with what he has. Well, you need to watch out in case you may slack to be like them. KL has pushed you and that is why you see Melaka's office lifestyle different but the coming years would be a challenge to you to maintain an organised life :)

I kinda feel I need to highlight to the management on how things can move forward. Yes FC, you are right. It did crossed my mind for the past 1 week that I need to maintain my mindset and momentum and can't be slack because I can't be like the rest. I felt restless now that I can't make things move currently.. Everything has to start from scratch.
