This is it. The long awaited moment has finally arrived. I’ve finally got to say: “Boss, I want to quit.” (direct translation from Mandarin). I’ve carefully counted my total leaves and wrote it down clearly in my resignation letter. Last official day will be 31st December 2009 but last working day will be 10th December 2009, together with my offset leaves of 14 days.
I am all looking forward to meet my boss. As I went in, he was reading The Star Online news. He only looked at me when I told him I want to quit. He was not surprise at all as the secretary prompted him. He then asked me about my new job:
a) What is your new job? Advertising agency. I don’t do sales.
b) Do you do TV advertising? I do all sorts of advertising.
c) How big is your company? Oh. Big. Quite big. Few floors.

(He was very surprise)
d) Few floors? So big? They are tenant in a building and they are renting few units only at different floors.
My boss then started to cut his finger nails. I was like a dumb person, sitting there waiting for him to finish cutting his nails! Oh.. This is so “Cina man”. After that he told me that he officially announces to quit advertising business and will focus back to the distribution business, the main core where how this company was established.
Well, how do I feel? I think it was a good experience. Looking back, all though there were many frustrations & disappointments with this company, I feel grateful to be part of it. It gave me many opportunities to be exposed to different field of job scopes, from marketing to event and to artiste management. I’ve gained many experiences and not forgetting the friendship that I’ve built. Apart from tears, there are many memorable times that I had.
Looking forward, I do have some fears in me on the uncertainties that lie ahead. I’ve heard from the people around me on the hectic job scope, the late & long working hours and the higher expenses that I foresee. Anyway, it will be a new start for me to work in an advertising firm. I hope that I will be able to cope with the changes that will be taken place and to face it with faith & courage.
