Survived 1st Week in Munich

In 2018, Daniel explored in other opportunities in his career. His German colleague in his previous department open up his exploration over in HQ Munich. After a series of video interview, we came to Munich for his last face to face interview and in August, Daniel got the offer. Our visas application was only approved in October and immediately, Daniel left for Munich. Me and Isabelle came over on 30th Dec 2018.

A new year, a new change.

Arrived in a winter season. It's a whole new experience to feel the chill, to feel the snow falling and to walk in the snow. Isabelle enjoyed playing in the snow.

Life is more on family bonding. We do things together, we cook together and spend time just 3 of us. I survived on groceries shopping. Its just a 5 minutes walk to the nearby Asian shops - namely Thai shop, Oriental Shop and Hong Kong shop. Then I slowly ventured a little further to the subway where they have a supermarket like Jusco ground ground. The first time entering and for the first time I saw my familiar vegetables and other food stuff made me feeling so happy.

It's like feeling a little comfort to see local brands like Lee Kum Kee and Old Town Coffee in the Oriental shop. We then try to find more details in the Thai Shop when Isabelle kept asking for fish ball... and while in search for her fish ball, we found imported prawns with shell and wan tan dumpling. And yes, we got her fish ball too.

Exploration to be continued..

At the dawn

I woke up at 630am thinking about you.
Maybe am a little blue and tears came running down.
May be I just had a reunion at cousin Lucy house.
But the tears comforted me.

I thought about during you were sick during your chemotherapy.
I thought about how we fought to get you home for Christmas
I thought about your last, your passed on

I know you are in good hands
You are in a better place
I am just missing you so much Daddy
So much more than words can say

A Fulfilling Weekend

Fr Chris sent an invite to his Jesuit final vow. Oh well I didn't thought we actually made it cos it's all very much depends on Daniels schedule and at times he just want to stay at home. But it's all different and he was agreed to go.

Went up to Serdang after dinner on Friday night and left to Maranatha at Janda Baik on Sat morning. We missed a turn to kg Janda Baik and went through a winding route that led us to their small town. Isabelle was vomiting due to the winding route. But at last we reached safely.

It was such a great reunion to have met Fr, Joyce, Carol, Audrey, Mel, Lionel, Sab, Iris & Greg, Greg Henry, Jenn Vaz. Just that time is short. I left after a stroll in the garden at 2pm. We stop by at a pine trees area to pick up some cones and the town market.

We had a good full day of family time with Matt, Ray and Nat. Isabelle clinged to Matt and cried so much when we were about to go home.

Our trip to KL was fulfilling this time around. Just that Isabelle miss her swim on Monday as we were planning to leave after lunch.

Keeping up with daddy

Continuation from my previous post on Dad, yes, he found out a lump on his left neck and was diagnosed with thyroid cancer by the Mahkota Medical Centre.

Before we proceed with the surgery as suggested by the private hospital, we seek help from our family friend - Dr. Ben, Yvonne's husband who is attached to Sungai Buloh government hospital. He gave us a referral letter and arranged for us an appointment with the head of endocrine surgeon - Dr. Maya from Putrajaya Hospital.

On 12th Feb 2016, we met Dr. Maya and was given explanations on the types of thyroid cancer. To ensure which type of cancer and the next step, deeper biopsy needed to be done. Hence Dad did another 2 biopsy and also some checks on blood and cardiac in preparation to speed things up if the biopsy results shows that it can be operated.

On 29th Feb 2016, biopsy results were out. We were hoping and praying that it is not the aggressive type but it turn out to be. It was anaplastic carcinoma and it labeled to be stage 4 as it is very aggressive type. Due to its nature, surgery is not an option and also the growth has pushes Dad's main blood artery to the side which is high risk for surgery. It can cause stroke. The only treatment will be radiotherapy and Dr. Maya referred us to Institute Kanser Negara (IKN), oncology department which is located just next to Putrajaya Hospital.

We made an appointment with IKN and we actually not very satisfied with the results as we still think surgery might work faster in removing the cancer cells. Hence we fled to Sunway Medical Centre to seek another advice from ENT clinic. It was the same. Surgery is not advisable.

We met up with Oncology  Dr Soma and Dr. Lau. Advised 33 times of radiotherapy as chemotherapy do not work well with anaplastic cancer. The radiotherapy aims to reduce the tumor and to control it but there is no guarantee that it will disappear.

On 7th and 8th March 2016, Daddy was scheduled to do CT Sim and to do head to shoulder mask in preparation for the radiotherapy.

Starting from 31st March - 17th May 2016 was his radiotherapy sessions. The therapy is also called tomotherapy.  We said family prayer every morning before he goes for treatment.

Day Out with baby and the oldies

Its not easy to juggle with a toddler and 2 senior citizens. I need to take care of my dad's lunch and mil has some groceries to do. Yeah.. A little hide n seek we had at tesco.

She made a scene when we stepped into tesco. She saw the coin game motion car and made a fuss till she gets what she wanted. Then she got down from her trolley after bored with it.

So she had her little shopping by choosing the tooth paste and the holding one of it. Then came to the clothes section, she just hugged n brushed the clothes hanging there.

Its was nice n fun looking at her. And this morning, she insisted to go out for a walk around the neighborhood. Since I do not have her shoe I just thought she wouldn't like to be bare footed on the tar road. But to my surprise, she just love it!

Oh well kids... They do fascinate you. Keeping a record of her little ways that amazed me.
